Integrative Medicine

Because the world is progressing faster than our ability to keep up.

Necessity is the mother of invention; but as we enter a new millennium, the rapidly escalating pace of life is the mother of an invention in medicine. We call it Progressive Medicine because it enables the innate healing potential within our patient's bodies and minds to progress and function at a higher level than has ever been known before. When that awakening takes place, we more than just survive -- we thrive.

That, in a nutshell, is the philosophy of our two progressive medical practices -- the Center for Progressive Medicine in Albany, NY and the Rhinebeck Health Center in Rhinebeck, NY.

As medicine comes under increasing scrutiny and insurance industry induced sweeping overhauls, we believe in harkening back to a simple truth: healing happens through a partnership between the patient and his health care team. Yet as simple as this truth is, we also recognize that the issues of health are as complex as the human being itself.

"Every patient is a kind of mystery novel waiting for you to figure it out"
Steven J. Bock, M.D.

We recognize patients as individuals and, when recommending a personal wellness/treatment regimen, we never lose sight of the fact that such a program is deeply personal. While human bodies behave in relatively discernible patterns, they're a bit like snowflakes, in that no two are identical. So we remain ever open, ever inquiring to discover just what makes the body of each of our patients tick.

"To paraphrase Lao Tzu, the healing journey of each of our patients begins with the first step".
Kenneth Bock, M.D.

And, for us, that first step in the process of healing is listening. But not just listening to your breathing and heart beat with our stethoscopes. We listen to your physical and emotional symptoms, we listen to your history, we listen to your concerns. We know first and foremost, that humas beings are not predictable machines encased in flesh. And that's why the medicine we practice is called Progressive Medicine; it's a unifying approach to health care which expands the current medical model in our country by combining the best of conventional medicine with the most ancient alternative therapies, as well as their most up-to-the minute counterparts. We're concerned with more than prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease; our commitment is to promoting a new level of wellness.
