Michael Compain, MD

His practice focuses on addressing the imbalances due to nutritional, environmental and psychosocial factors which lead to illness. He uses the principles and tools of functional and environmental medicine to restore balance, using natural agents and dietary approaches whenever possible. Dr. Compain has appeared on radio and has written and lectured on these topics for many years. Dr. Compain has also received training in Prolotherapy.

He received his Bachelors from Columbia University in 1971 and his M.D. from NYU School of Medicine in 1975.He was a primary care internist and acting Medical Director of a preventive health center affiliated with NYU Medical Center, and was later Chief of Internal Medicine for a large health center in the Hudson Valley of New York.

Dr. Compain was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1978 and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Environmental Medicine. He has taught interns, residents and medical students for 18 years and is a member of the faculty of NYU Medical Center.
